Pub group launches sat nav programme

Pub group launches sat nav programme

According to a recent report one major pub group from the UK has launched a sat nav program in the hope that this will help them major greater sales.

With the current recession still underway many different industries, including the food and drink industry, are looking for ways to increase business, and one pub has decided that one way to help it to increase business may be to develop a sat nav programme for satellite navigation systems, which will them prove users with directions to its venues.

Marston's it hoping to increase the sales levels on its foods as opposed to drinks, as it feels that this is where the profits for the business lie. By using the sat nave programme on sat nav devices it can direct consumers straight to its venues, which means that the group can earn more money and consumers can find it easier to get to a venue that serves a range of food and drinks.

An official from Marston's said that eating at pubs had become a far more important part of how people used pubs, and that more people went to pubs to eat there rather than just to drink. He said: "The way we use pubs has changed. Dining out has become a much more important part of that and I don't see that changing."

There are seventeen hundred pubs to which consumers will be able to get directions through the sat nav programme, and the pub chain also went on to state: "We're expecting food sales to continue increasing. As we build new pubs they will tend to be more food-led than drinks-led."
