BOSSES at Sainsbury's have corrected a blunder that was believed to be making families' lives a misery by sending heavy lorries down a narrow residential street.

Parents in Costessey, Norwich were furious that lorries making deliveries to Sainsbury's at the Longwater Retail Park were driving down the narrow Longwater Lane.

They blamed an incorrect address on correspondence and till receipts, which cited the store as being on Longwater Lane when it is actually nearly a mile away on William Frost Way.

Since the error was revealed in March the store has corrected their receipts and residents say the lorries are no longer a nuisance.

Rachel Jackson, clerk of Costessey Parish Council, says she has had no reports of Sainsbury's lorries on Longwater Lane since the change.

She said: “We're very pleased and grateful for Sainsbury's early attention to this matter. I have certainly had no reports of lorries coming into the village since then.”

Sat Nav systems get a lot of bad press for leading motorists astray but this article goes to show that when a navigation system is used correctly, with the right information, both drivers and residents can live in harmony.
