Polar FT4 takes training to the next level with this affordable yet feature packed fitness watch. The most obvious difference between the FT4 and the models below it, is the heart rate monitor. FT4 is supplied with the lighter weight heart rate model which features a replaceable battery, unlike the factory sealed HR monitor in lower spec FT watches.
Features which build on the FT1 and FT2 units include TargetZone, which shows when you are improving fitness based on your actual heart rate.
FT4 also tells you how you are progressing by calculating the number of calories each session is burning using OwnCal.
Keeping tabs on recent training sessions is easy with the FT4 recording the last 10 sessions for you.
HeartTouch: allows you button free operation of the watch which leaves your hands free to aid your activity. You can preset a piece of information to appear on screen simply by moving the watch closer to the heart rate monitor. This is particularly helpful when gloves make button pressing difficult and you want to check your heart rate for example.
HR-Based target zones with visual and audible alarm: defines target zones automatically for your training session based on your age. This helps define the right intensity for each session. When you slip out of your predetermined zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alert.
Polar OwnCode - Coded transmission: Automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the FT4. This means that the FT4 will pick up your heart rate reading only and you don't have to worry about interference from other devices.
HRmax: Enales you to define the target zone as you want and is suitable for your training. You can set this training as beats per minute (BPM), percentage of maximum heart rate or as a percentage of your heart rate reserve (HRR%).
Polar OwnCal: Is Polar's accurate way of determining your calorific expenditure during training. Here you can follow the number of kilocalories expended during one training session and also cumulative kilocalories over multiple sessions. With the FT4 you can store up to 10 training summaries.
