Snooper Sapphire
Snooper Sapphire Portable GPS speed camera locator
No bigger than the average mobile phone, the stylish Snooper Sapphire will alert you to ALL fixed camera sites as well as mobile laser hot spots as and when you approach them! The full colour display will inform you of the type of speed camera you are approaching as well as the current speed limit. All this is backed up with the built-in voice alerts which will tell you the same information so that you don't even need to take your eyes off the road for a second!
Rechargeable battery - no more wires!
One of the most convenient features of the Sapphire is the rechargeable battery that comes built in to the device. The battery will last you a good four hours before it requires a charge. Should your journey time take you over the four-hour mark, the Sapphire comes with an in-car power charger so you can charge as you drive. You also receive a USB charger that will connect to your PC and charge the device in a couple of hours.
Packed with intelligent features!
If the level of detail that the Sapphire provides wasn't enough to impress you, the vast array of features and functions will do.
Speed Limit Alert: This feature allows you to program in a specific speed limit into the Sapphire memory. You will then be alerted every time you go over this limit, for example - if you don't want to go over 75mph, simply program in 75 as the limit and every time you reach that speed you receive a warning.
Smart Mute: Sometimes you don't want to be alerted to an upcoming speed camera if you are below the limit of if you are crawling along in traffic for example. The Smart Mute function will only alert you to a speed camera audibly if you are travelling above the speed limit. The visual alerts remain for your information.
Auto Mute: If you don't want the continual beeping as you approach the speed camera, smart mute will automatically change the audible tone to a softer level after a few seconds.
The AURA advantage - not all speed trap databases are created equal!
Only Snooper speed camera detectors utilise their own unique AURA database. All GPS location systems are only as good as the information that is stored inside them, therefore it is essential that your system uses the best there is. AURA was created to provide the very best automotive Speed Safety Camera database available. For more information on how the AURA database works, click HERE

A stylish and compact unit that is easy to read and use. Full spoken alerts for camera type and speed limit are given; distances are shown on the display. With the option of turning on ‘Smart Mute' the full voice warning and penetrating beeps are only given whilst you are above the posted speed limit.
The menu system is accessed and navigated by the ‘joy stick' that is simple and fuss free and does not limit the changes to those who have thin fingers or long nails. With the inbuilt 3-4 hour battery providing power there is no need for unsightly cables trailing over the dash and this enables mounting to the right hand side of the steering wheel, which keeps the Police happy as it is not obstructing the windscreen.
As the Sapphire is the size of a small mobile phone you can slip it easily into a pocket when you leave your car.
Pros: clear display, digital speed readout, smart looking piece of kit
Cons: none yet
"In buying the Sapphire I was looking for a replacement for the camera warnings provided by my TomTom and so far it has more than met my expectations. I was able to register and download the data without any problem and whilst it did take some time to pick up the satelite first time, this had been clearly explained in the instructions. I like the way it tells me what speed I am doing and my only concern is that the volume of the warnings might be on the low side."

"Looking like a smaller version of the Syrius, the Sapphire has an array of screen colour options. Its great display showed actual speed in a white circle until close to a trap, when it changed to a flashing limit. Voice warnings and beeps were spot-on, and while it didn't reveal mobiles, it spotted all the fixed traps."

"Whilst I admit to driving over the speed limit on occasions (I'm sure that 99% of drivers also do this) I must point out that I am not a serial speeder and think that the speed of some drivers is ludicrous (especially the 3 figure speeds) and they should be banned
As times have changed and speed cameras are getting more and more common place I think the attitude towards these speed radar detectors have changed significantly. If you have one in your car then I don't think it is frowned upon as much as it use to.
Whilst the Sapphire is predominantly a speed trap detector the other features it has make it so much better than other devices. I like the fact that the screen displays the speed limit of the road you are driving on (making it useful for those occasions when the limit changes and you miss the sign) allowing you to adjust your speed accordingly. What's more is the display is so large that it is impossible to miss.
I also like the 'hazard' feature of the Sapphire, which I find particularly useful on unfamiliar roads. The Sapphire pre warns you about the extremely tight u bend corners, schools and dangerous junctions and the like. The warnings are both audio and visual meaning it is difficult to miss.
The Sapphire is small, sleek and I think it looks quite stylish. It is a nice addition to any dashboard.
Overall the Sapphire is a fantastic piece of kit and the additional features are well worth the additional cost, besides how much of a value would you place on your licence?
Summary: A great value tool to warn you of dangers and help you keep your licence"
