TomTom LIVE is a subscription based service* which gives you acces to a wealth of driver features enabling you to stay one step ahead of other road users. TomTom's advanced HD Traffic service offers up to the minute traffic information as it happens on the road. This includes detailed incident reports, delay times and alternative routes.

TomTom LIVE also delivers accurate speed camera information thanks to their partnership with Road Angel, providing advanced warning of fixed and mobile cameras, blackspots and more to get you there safely!

TomTom fuel prices save you money as well with live updates on the price of petrol from over 12,000 petrol stations across the UK. Get directions to the cheapest petrol station on route and start saving straight away! 

Coverage

The TomTom 940 LIVE comes preoaded with TeleAtlas maps of Western and Eastern Europe. Due to data roaming restrictions however, the LIVE services wil lonly operate in the UK currently.

"The good

Is this a satnav or an iPhone stuck on its side? The 940's GPRS web connection is a long way from 3G but it's just right for keeping you up to date with local road conditions, tracking down businesses and saving a third of a penny on a litre of unleaded. As you'd expect from TomTom's flagship navigator, the easy to use 940 is groaning with extra features, such as one-touch map updates, IQ Routes that take into account the time of day, and attentive voice recognition. Good luck finding your way to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, mind.

The bad

You'll have to spend a lot of time on the road at rush hour to justify TomTom's £8 monthly fee for the Live services (although you do get the first three months' free). The service has had some teething issues, too, including poor coverage in some areas.

The bottom line

Salesmen and lorry drivers criss-crossing the country will appreciate the sheer wealth of time-shaving features on board the 940. Weekend drivers, however, might find this hitch-hiker an expensive luxury."
